National softball junior team to play a pair of tuneup games in Alvinston

Canada’s national junior fastball team makes a stop in Alvinston Monday night (July 18) in advance of the world junior U19 men’s championship later this month in Midland, Michigan.
The juniors will play the Alvinston juniors at 7 pm, followed by a game against the Indians senior squad at 8:30 pm. Both games will be five-inning affairs.
Current Alvinston players Cole Pavey and Robbie Black are part of the national junior team.
Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students and seniors and kids under 12 are free.
Canada opens the world tournament against New Zealand on July 24.
Former Indians pitcher Adam Woon is expected to part of the lineup for the Kiwis.
