The Brooke-Alvinston Arts & Activity Group is gearing up for another Arts and Music Fest.

Spokesperson Liana Russwurm recently told council they were planning an all-day event for Aug. 13 in the River Street Park.

“We’re trying to make it very interesting for the kids,” she says adding the Arts and Activity group will have a booth set up to promote its programs. Tours will also be organized of the group’s new space above the council chambers which is under construction.

The day will open at 11am with vendors in the park and entertainment in the gazebo. There will be singers and musicians as well as a speaker on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer rights.

Later in the afternoon comedian Issac Towell will perform and at 6pm Scott Manery and the Barn Burners will put on a show for a street dance.

Part of River Street will be blocked off for the event allowing people to cross between the park and restaurants without traffic. Armour’s Ale House will be providing liquor for the event and the area will be fenced and patrolled by volunteers.
