Fraud pilot project in Lambton saves $160,000 in six months

Sarnia crosswalk to be ‘Knighted’
May 8, 2023
It’s a bitter pill to swallow on the heels of the London Knight’s claiming the Gretzky Cup Sunday over the Sarnia Sting, but a city sidewalk will bear the Knight’s colours – at least for a short time.
Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley and London Mayor Josh Morgan wagered on the outcome on the Battle of the 402 – the loser installs a temporary sidewalk in the winning team’s colours. Sunday, the Sting fell to the Knights 5-1 ending the series.
Today, city officials are making plans for the crosswalk. David Jackson, GM of engineering and operations in an email to the mayor said; “We are planning to paint the crosswalk on London at Front. Might as well at least showcase our nice waterfront in the background if the picture is going to spread around. The county is also planning to repave that area this summer so it will get removed as part of that work.”
If the weather holds, London Knights sidewalk will be installed Tuesday.
