Plympton-Wyoming council isn’t interested in taking over a woodlot but it wants to have a say in what happens to it.
The St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation says it doesn’t have use for the woodlot in the Maples Subdivision on Egremont Road. Under the Conservation Act, the foundation can either find a municipal partner to help pay for the cost of maintaining it or sell it.
Deputy Mayor Netty McEwen says Plympton-Wyoming has its hands full after taking over both Highland Glen and McEwen Parks.
But council members are concerned about what the foundation may propose.
Instead, council will suggest working with the foundation on a creative solution, such as selling the eight acre woodlot to neighbours or creating a local association in the subdivision which could care for the property.
