Oil Springs taxpayers face a 4.9 percent tax increase this year.
Oil Springs was orginally looking at anywhere between a two percent to a six percent increase in municipal taxation at meetings in May, but in the end council settled with something in the middle, satisfied the village would be able to get a lot done in capital work.
A total balanced budget of $935,000 passed at its June 3 meeting with several projects to be undertaken this year.
Included among the capital work is $130,000 to complete road repairs from the municipal building to the bridge on Oil Springs Line, another $87,000 to replace guardrails and markers on the Gypsy Flats Road Bridge.
Concrete work will be completed on Richmond Street to install an inverted swell at a cost of $13,200. Sidewalk replacement from Duryee Street to Gypsy Flats Roads will also take place if the municipality receives a grant for $85,000.
